BRING BACK BIRDS (ESPECIALLY KIWI)

We dream of Kiwi in our backyard, or better yet - walking across our *future* lawn. We want birds in the trees (the ones we will plant) that we can learn their tunes. We know there is work to be done with trapping of pests and predators to help this dream along. We've partnered with Wellington City Council and Wellington Regional Council and have made a great start. We hope more join this waka to bring this dream to life.

RESTORATION & PROTECTION

We've had ecologists, botantists, geologists, soil experts, and tree aficionados visit to help shape our space. With land not far off the size of Island Bay, we know it needs to be staged, planned and carefully executed in order to ensure the mahi is protected and able to regrow. We have special SNA on our land which have pockets of plants that grow only in our area - so we will look after them - fencing is key, as is removal of pests and predators.

REDUCTION & REPURPOSE OF WASTE

We choose inputs based on whether we are left with waste. Sometimes it cannot be avoided, however we creatively ensure we can use it in another system, or pass it on to another who will use it. We're setting up a grow space adajcent and grow herbs and crops as our goats produce the most amazing fermentable raisin that makes the best compost. We've had suppliers work with us to produce their product in a package that can be recycled. We will continue to operate under permaculture principles with regards to inputs, outputs and continually improving the way we do things. There is always room to improve.

MUCH MORE THAN JUST MILK

We're on a journey toward sustainable farming using regenerative practices. We want to ensure that we do the best we can with the resources we have, making things better, and sharing our wins and our challenges along the way. We want to give back, to make the land better than we found it, for our children, and to set the scene for future kaitiaki in our locale. Caprines for Conservation is more than milk. It is a movement. It is the future. #GoGoat.
